Mellins – Zeiss Vision Centres

Bringing “Customised Precision” to the world of Optometry

Eye testing has remained virtually unchanged for over 100 years…that is until the launch of Zeiss i.Scription.

Your eyes are as unique as you are and have an individual “fingerprint” - The Zeiss i.Profiler reads this “fingerprint” to produce,
arguably the most individualised lens in the world

The Zeiss Experience & i.Scription

The new Mellins i-Style ZEISS Experience practice which opened in Fourways, Johannesburg, became the first of its kind in Africa.

"This new technology from ZEISS compliments the Mellins i-Style brand 100%. Our business relationship with ZEISS, the world's most renowned optical and opto-electronic company led to the design and completion of this Mellins i-Style ZEISS experience practice," says Andre Horn, spokesperson for Mellins i-Style.

The Mellin-ZEISS experience

Our team is ready to provide you with the Mellin-Zeiss experience.  This process takes your eye examination one step further in order to provide you with a truly customised eyecare solution.  Below are more details on what you can expect:

Step 1 | Your Individual sight Situation.

Step 1 | Assessing your personal vision needs

We need to know, not only what your new spectacles have to achieve, but also when and where. We will discuss your regular day-to-day schedule, job and activities as well as any specific visual problems. The more we know, the better we can assist you in acquiring your customised precision lenses.

Step 2 - Precise eye measurement

Step 2 | i.Profiler screening

The i.Profiler® maps out over 2500 points on each eye in order to determine your eyes’ unique profile.
Each person is different and our eyes are as unique as our fingerprints. The i.profiler allows us to determine the exact optical map of your eye. Think of it as a “fingerprint” measurement of your eye.  This data is used by ZEISS in Germany to manufacture your customised lenses.

Step 3 - Subjective eye test

Step 3 | Eye Pressure, Colour Vision & Depth Perception

Taking your eye examination one step further
We will also perform a series of tests to ensure that your colour vision, depth perception and eye pressure are within acceptable ranges.  Measuring your eye pressure is particularly important as it enables us to identify possible Glaucoma. This disease, if left untreated may cause vision loss.

Step 4 | Subjective eye test Going a step further

Step 6 - Your personal lens solution.

Step 6 | Exact fitting

Did you know that if your lens does not fit in the correct place in your frame and on your face, it can reduce optical performance by up to 40%?
ZEISS Centration Technology allows the position of the frame and lenses to be digitally calculated to the nearest 1\10th of a millimetre, ensuring that your new ZEISS precision lenses provide 100% performance.
